MSDS Chemical Safety Data Sheet

Chemical safety label refers to the safety label attached to the chemical packaging provided by production and sales units when hazardous chemicals are circulated in the market. It is a carrier for transmitting safety information to operators. It uses simple and easy to understand text and graphics to describe the hazardous characteristics of chemicals and the precautions for safe disposal, warning operators to carry out safe operations and disposal.

Legal background: "Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals" (Order No. 591): Article 15: Hazardous chemical production enterprises shall provide chemical safety technical manuals that are consistent with the hazardous chemicals they produce, and affix or tie chemical safety labels that are consistent with the hazardous chemicals inside the packaging (including outsourced packaging). The content stated in the chemical safety technical instructions and chemical safety labels shall comply with the requirements of national standards.

If a hazardous chemical production enterprise discovers that the hazardous chemicals it produces have new hazardous characteristics, it shall immediately announce and promptly revise its chemical safety technical instructions and chemical safety labels.

Content of chemical safety labels

Chemical safety labels should include the substance name, number, hazard label, warning words, hazard overview, safety measures, fire extinguishing methods, manufacturer, address, phone number, emergency consultation phone number, and instructions to refer to the safety technical manual. The elements of the SDS label should be consistent with the elements on the chemical safety label.

China's chemical safety labeling should comply with the relevant provisions of GB 30000 "Classification and Labeling of Chemicals".

With the implementation of the GHS Global Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals in China, the latest chemical classification includes 16 physical and chemical hazard classifications, 10 health hazard classifications, and 2 environmental hazard classifications. The corresponding documents are GB 30000.2-2013 to GB30000.29-2013, which were officially implemented on November 1, 2014.
