MSDS Chemical Safety Data Sheet
Chemical safety label refers to the safety
label attached to the chemical packaging provided by production and sales units
when hazardous chemicals are circulated in the market. It is a carrier for
transmitting safety information to operators. It uses simple and easy to
understand text and graphics to describe the hazardous characteristics of
chemicals and the precautions for safe disposal, warning operators to carry out
safe operations and disposal.
Legal background: "Regulations on the
Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals" (Order No. 591): Article 15:
Hazardous chemical production enterprises shall provide chemical safety
technical manuals that are consistent with the hazardous chemicals they
produce, and affix or tie chemical safety labels that are consistent with the
hazardous chemicals inside the packaging (including outsourced packaging). The
content stated in the chemical safety technical instructions and chemical
safety labels shall comply with the requirements of national standards.
If a hazardous chemical production
enterprise discovers that the hazardous chemicals it produces have new
hazardous characteristics, it shall immediately announce and promptly revise
its chemical safety technical instructions and chemical safety labels.
Content of chemical safety labels
Chemical safety labels should include the
substance name, number, hazard label, warning words, hazard overview, safety
measures, fire extinguishing methods, manufacturer, address, phone number,
emergency consultation phone number, and instructions to refer to the safety
technical manual. The elements of the SDS label should be consistent with the
elements on the chemical safety label.
China's chemical safety labeling should
comply with the relevant provisions of GB 30000 "Classification and
Labeling of Chemicals".
With the implementation of the GHS Global
Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals in China,
the latest chemical classification includes 16 physical and chemical hazard
classifications, 10 health hazard classifications, and 2 environmental hazard classifications.
The corresponding documents are GB 30000.2-2013 to GB30000.29-2013, which were
officially implemented on November 1, 2014.
