American Toy Safety Standard ASTM F963: Physical and Mechanical Performance Testing, Flammability Testing, and Heavy Metal Content Testing

The ASTM F963 standard is a standard specification for the safety of children's toys developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The purpose of ASTM F963 standard is to ensure that children's toys comply with strict safety requirements during design, manufacturing, and use to prevent potential injuries and risks. The safety of children is the most important concern, and the ASTM F963 standard provides guidance and guidelines for all parties to ensure that children's toys comply with safety standards in all aspects. When toy products and children's products are listed on Amazon platforms or exported to the United States, they are usually required to provide a CPC certificate and undergo ASTM F963 testing.

The main content of product testing is usually divided into three parts: physical and mechanical properties; Combustion performance; Chemical properties.

The requirements for physical and mechanical properties mainly involve impact tests, drop tests, tensile tests for component removal, pressure tests, flexural tests, and so on.

The flammability test procedure for toys shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements of 16CFR1500.44 for horizontal combustion testing.

Chemical performance testing involves testing the migration of eight heavy metals and the total lead content.
