EN71 is the regulatory standard for toy products in the European Union market. Children are the most concerned and cherished group in the whole society. The toy market that children generally love is developing rapidly, and toy quality problems often cause harm to children. Therefore, countries around the world have increasingly strict requirements for toys in their own markets. Many countries have established their own safety regulations, and manufacturers must ensure that their products comply with relevant standards before being sold in the region. Manufacturers must be responsible for accidents caused by production defects, poor design, or improper use of materials. As a result, the Toy EN71 Certification Act was introduced in Europe, which aims to standardize the technical specifications of toy products entering the European market through the EN71 standard, in order to reduce or avoid harm to children caused by toys.

EN71-1 Toy Safety - Part 1: Physical and mechanical performance testing, mainly including sharp edges, tension, pressure, testing, etc. This section specifies the safety technical requirements for the mechanical and physical properties of toys used in different age groups from newborns to 14 year old children, as well as requirements for packaging, labeling, and usage instructions.

Toys are required to be free from collapse, ingestion, sharp edges, noise, sharp points, and any other hazards that may harm children's lives and health during testing.

Specific testing items for physical and mechanical properties include sharp point testing, edge testing, small component testing, pressure testing, bending testing, impact testing, seam tensile testing, tensile testing, torque testing, noise level, dynamic strength, packaging film thickness testing, ejection toys, hair adhesion testing, etc.
