EN71-3 Content detection of 19 toxic and transferable elements
EN71-3 Toy Safety - Part 3: Chemical
performance testing, testing for 19 heavy metal elements, including antimony,
arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, tin, etc.
EU Toy EN71-3:2013 Test, 19 Specific
Element Migration Tests, and Toy Heavy Metal Testing. Recently, the EU official
gazette has officially published guidelines on EN71-3:2013. This means that
from July 20, 2013, toy products that comply with EN71-3:2013 will assume
compliance with the specific chemical element migration requirements of the EU
Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. According to the level of potential intake by
children, toy materials are divided into the following three categories (see
Table 1 for details): the first category: dry, fragile, powdered or flexible
toy materials; Type 2: Liquid and adhesive toy materials; Category 3: Toy
materials that can be scraped off.
The test subjects include 19 chemical
elements (among which trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium, organic tin
and tin elements are counted separately, so it can also be said to be 17
elements). Retained the original 8 elements (chromium, divided into the two
different valence states mentioned above), and added another 9 different
elements.
The EN71-3 standard is a comprehensive
guide on the safety of children's toys, Part III: Limit of Hazardous
Substances, covering testing methods, limit requirements, hazardous substance
lists, and labeling requirements. By interpreting this standard in detail, it
can help manufacturers ensure the quality and safety of toy materials, and
ensure the health and safety of children.
