The EU RoHS directive covers a wide range of products, almost covering all electronic, electrical, medical, communication, toy, security information and other products. It not only includes complete machine products, but also includes the components, raw materials, and packaging used in the production of complete machines, which is related to the entire production chain.

The EU RoHS (Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment), also known as the Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment. In January 2003, the European Council passed the first version of the RoHS Directive: 2002/95/EC; In July 2011, the European Union released a new version of the RoHS Directive: 2011/65/EU, which came into effect in July 2011, replacing the previous version 2002/95/EC.

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) refers to a directive that restricts the use of certain harmful substances, aimed at reducing the use of harmful substances to the environment and health in electronic and electrical equipment.

The RoHS directive limits the use of the following six harmful substances, with a threshold limit of per material percentage (weight percentage): lead (Pb); Mercury (Hg); Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+); Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs); Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); Cadmium (Cd).

On June 4, 2015, the European Union issued Directive (EU) 2015/863 amending 2011/65/EU (RoHS 2.0) to include four phthalates in the restricted substance list. The effective date of this revision is July 22, 2019.
