On July 13, 2016, the Canadian official gazette released the "Phthalate Regulation" (SOR/2016-188) for children's toys and care products, which stipulates that the content of three types of phthalates, including diisooctyl phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP), in vinyl components of children's toys and care products shall not exceed 1000mg/kg, At the same time, it is stipulated that within a reasonable and predictable range, the content of three types of phthalates, namely diisopropyl phthalate (DINP), diisopropyl decanoic phthalate (DIDP), and di octyl phthalate (DNOP), in the vinyl components of children's toys and child care products that may be put into the mouth by children under 4 years old shall not exceed 1000mg/kg.

This regulation shall come into effect from the date of publication and registration, and the original regulation SOR/2010-298 shall be abolished and invalidated simultaneously. The limit requirements for six phthalate substances, DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DNOP, in the new regulations are consistent with the original regulations.
